Jair Méndez Zúñiga is currently studying his master in Biotechnology at ITESM Campus Monterrey. He graduated as Biotechnology Engineer and obtained his minor in molecular biology in 2022 at ITESM Campus Ciudad de México. During his bachelor's degree, Jair went through multiple science approaches: a one year internship at Instituto Nacional de Medicina Genómica in Mexico City focused on the miRNA's study; he was a formal member of two research groups at ITESM CCM: one focusing on the study of possible mechanisms for reducing premature aging in children with Hutchinson-Gilford syndrome (Progeria), and the other on the management of the animal model zebrafish for ecotoxicology tests. Also, he was part of the first formers of a scientific entrepreneur, being the R&D leader in charge of a multidisciplinary team for about 3 years. His current project consists of using genetic engineering on pancreatic alpha cells and chaotic bioprinting to develop a functional pancreatic-like tissue targeting type 1 diabetes. He likes to travel and knowing new places, he loves the rain and plays volleyball since 9 years old.
